Climate Effect 2026: Tourism Facing a Historic Turning Point

Date:

Today I'm publishing our 15th interactive report on InfosTourisme.com. This exceptional report, simply titled " Climate Effect 2026," explores the concrete impact of climate change on the entire global tourism ecosystem: destinations, accommodation providers, insurers, transport companies, and travelers. It's not just another sustainability report. It's a raw snapshot of reality: how climate change is already impacting practices, flows, and economic models.

Why this report is different

Since 2020, I've observed how climate change has become a central topic in all conversations among tourism professionals. But by 2026, we'll enter a whole new dimension: heatwaves, wildfires, cancellations, a shift in clientele towards the North… Climate is no longer an external risk; it's becoming a strategic business variable. This is precisely what this report highlights, with a visual, interactive approach, drawing on data from Copernicus, Eurostat, Munich Re, ETC, and Atout France.

A unique and immersive format

Climate Effect 2026 is not a static PDF, but a true reading experience designed for decision-makers and stakeholders in the tourism industry. The report unfolds like a fresco: infinite scrolling, animated maps, dynamic data, and immersive storytelling. Each section reveals an aspect of the thermal shock our industry is experiencing, from the "European hotel balance sheet" to the rise of the "Coolcations" phenomenon, and the explosion of insurance costs.

I wanted this report to be clear, beautiful and useful, a resource that can be consulted, cited and above all used to inform one's own adaptation strategies.

For tourism professionals: understand, anticipate, act

The goal is simple: to enable every professional, whether hotelier, tourism office director, or tour operator, to measure the extent of climate change and identify concrete adaptation strategies. The data is global, but the implications are local: mobility, seasonality, planning, communication, insurance products, new travel scenarios…

The report also offers a forward-looking perspective: how European tourism is being reconfigured in real time, which territories are gaining ground, which are declining, and how traveler behavior is evolving.

A committed editorial signature

As with our previous reports (Smart Destinations, AI Tourism, New Routes, etc.), I wanted this edition to remain freely accessible and dedicated to the professional community. It aligns with InfosTourisme.com's mission: to help industry stakeholders understand the world to come, without sensationalism, with facts.

This report marks a turning point: it's no longer about debating climate change, but about understanding how it is reshaping our economic models. And this needs to happen now.
