Accor's identified business travel trends are no longer limited to cost control. After bringing together international buyers and corporate program managers in Paris, the hotel group highlighted five priorities: strategic partnerships, traveler experience, practical applications of artificial intelligence, flexible pricing, and better visibility of negotiated rates.
Accor published the conclusions of the third edition of its Global Leadership Council on July 9, 2026. This advisory body brought together travel procurement managers and executives from 18 European and North American organizations for two days.
According to figures released by the group, these organizations represent approximately three million business travelers. The meeting was opened by Sébastien Bazin, Chairman and CEO of Accor.
Summary
What the Global Leadership Council really represents
The Global Leadership Council is neither an independent market research firm nor an organization tasked with setting standards for business travel. It is a forum created by Accor to exchange ideas with several of its corporate clients and distribution partners.
The published conclusions therefore reflect the topics considered priorities by the participants in this meeting. Accor specifies that they will directly inform its business travel strategy.
A more comprehensive report is due to be published later in 2026. The documents available in July do not yet provide detailed figures on expected savings, the adoption of artificial intelligence, or the level of traveler satisfaction.
According to the specialized press, this third edition nevertheless reflects a shift in discussions towards hotel programs more driven by data, technology and performance.

The first trend in business travel: moving beyond price negotiation
The first area identified concerns the relationship between client companies and their hotel suppliers. Participants are calling for more collaborative and transparent partnerships, going beyond annual price negotiations.
This evolution does not mean that rates are becoming secondary. Cost remains a primary concern for Accor. However, discussions also focus on the ability of a hotel program to adapt when a company's business grows in one country, slows down in another, or needs to accommodate a new project.
Contractual flexibility and data flow thus become central elements of the relationship between major accounts, hotels, business travel agencies and booking platforms.
The traveler experience must remain compatible with cost pressures
The second priority concerns the balance between cost savings and travel quality. The companies represented on the Council wish to maintain competitive programs while offering comfortable and personalized stays.
Accor directly links the traveler experience to well-being, employee recognition, and talent retention. This connection is emphasized by the group and its board members, but no indicators to measure its precise impact on employee retention have been published with these findings.
The observation presented therefore remains that of the participants: the conditions of business travel are no longer examined solely as an expense. They are also integrated into discussions on employee engagement and well-being.
Artificial intelligence must now solve specific problems
Artificial intelligence is among the top business travel trends highlighted for 2026. Participants are no longer just asking for demonstrations or experiments, but for applications related to identified operational challenges.
Accor cites in particular the improvement of hotel tenders, the reliability of rates, the reconciliation of payments and the support of the traveler during the booking process.
Conversational interactions are another use case mentioned. They should allow users to query a booking tool in a more natural language, without having to navigate through a series of filters.
The group did not, however, announce a new booking assistant, a launch date, or any technological solution resulting from this meeting. The Council's conclusions describe needs expressed by corporate clients, not the immediate deployment of a product.
Large accounts are demanding more flexible pricing
The fourth topic concerns pricing structures. Companies want frameworks that can adapt to the conditions of each market rather than relying exclusively on fixed tariffs applied identically in several countries.
This demand can lead to combining different price categories, including fixed negotiated rates and variable formulas depending on the evolution of the hotel market.
Accor has not provided details on the pricing model that will be adopted or the contractual terms that might be offered. The group only indicates that its clients are seeking a better balance between budgetary stability, local competitiveness, and value.
Visibility of negotiated rates remains a priority issue
The fifth business travel trend identified concerns the accessibility of negotiated rates. Companies want to find the same conditions across the different channels used by their employees and agencies.
The issue relates in particular to the consistency of the prices displayed, the actual availability of corporate rates and their correct application during booking.
Accor states that it is working with its corporate clients and distribution partners to improve these processes. However, no timeline or specific targets are associated with this announcement.
The issue remains important for managed travel programs. When a negotiated fare does not appear in the tool used by the traveler, they may select another offer or book through a channel outside their company's program.
Business travel trends have evolved since 2024
When the Global Leadership Council was created in June 2024, Accor brought together representatives from 17 international companies, representing more than 2.7 million travelers.
Three priorities were published at the time: traveler experience and well-being, cost control, and sustainability. Two years later, the Council brings together 18 organizations representing approximately three million travelers.
Experience and costs remain present in the 2026 conclusions. Partnerships, artificial intelligence, pricing flexibility and price visibility now occupy a more explicit place.
Environmental responsibility is not among the five main themes published after this third edition. This does not mean that Accor or its clients have abandoned the topic. In its other publications on business travel, the group continues to present carbon footprint as one of the criteria used to assess the value of a trip.
What Accor announces, and what the group has not yet announced
Accor confirms that the work of the Global Leadership Council will inform its corporate strategy. The group also plans to publish a comprehensive report before the end of 2026.
However, no new hotel contracts, artificial intelligence tools, B2B loyalty programs or pricing systems were launched as part of this communication.
The five business travel trends presented represent guidelines resulting from discussions with Board members. Their commercial implementation will need to be assessed based on the products, agreements, and tools that Accor will actually offer.
Topics directly related to the work of agencies and travel managers
The selected themes cover several concrete steps in the management of business travel: negotiation of hotel programs, calls for tenders, display of rates, booking, processing of payments and assistance to travelers.
Business travel agencies and travel management companies are particularly concerned with the visibility of negotiated prices across all channels. They are also involved in the integration of future conversational tools and in the quality of data transmitted between hotels, companies, and platforms.
Nothing in Accor's publications suggests that artificial intelligence will replace agencies or travel managers. The group presents this technology as a way to automate certain processes and simplify booking.
The third edition of the Global Leadership Council confirms above all that the performance of a hotel program is now measured on several dimensions: price, availability of rates, quality of stay, technological fluidity and the ability of partners to adapt their agreements to local markets.
This article was published on July 21, 2026, based on official information released by Accor and the information available at that time. The full Global Leadership Council 2026 report has not yet been published.
