As of August 4, 2026, ONDA does not publish in its announcement an exhaustive list of carriers already compatible, nor a detailed airport-by-airport schedule.
According to the specialized press and several Moroccan media outlets, the system therefore marks a further step in the digitization of the passenger journey, but it would be premature to announce to all travelers that they can now leave their paper boarding pass at home.
The Ryanair case shows why agencies need to remain cautious
Several publications have mentioned Ryanair as one of the airlines likely to be affected soon. However, verifying the available information requires greater caution.
Ryanair's official help center, consulted in early August 2026, still states that passengers departing from a Moroccan airport must check in online and then collect their boarding pass free of charge at the airport counter.
In the absence of more recent official confirmation from Ryanair indicating the activation of Pax Check at specific airports, the company's digital boarding pass should not be presented as being widely used in Morocco.
For a travel agency, the rule remains simple: check the company's instructions used by the client before each departure.
The digital boarding pass is part of Airports 2030
Pax Check is not an isolated initiative. The system is part of the Airports 2030 strategy presented by ONDA in February 2025.
This roadmap is based in particular on the modernization of infrastructure, the transformation of the Office and the improvement of the passenger journey through digitalization.
ONDA had already begun automating certain steps. In March 2025, automatic gates were installed at Casablanca Mohammed V as part of the elimination of double screening of international passengers, with an extension announced to other Moroccan airports.
Pax Check continues this logic by digitizing an additional step of the airport check-in process.
What changes for travellers
When a company is indeed compatible with Pax Check, the passenger can keep their boarding pass on their smartphone and present their QR code to the equipment provided for this purpose.
The change therefore mainly concerns the medium used. The passport, the identity card (when accepted), and any other documents required for travel remain subject to the usual rules.
It's also important to distinguish between online check-in and airport access. Having a digital boarding pass doesn't automatically exempt you from going to the check-in counter when an airline requires specific document checks or when baggage needs to be checked in.
What tourism professionals need to check before departure
For travel agencies, tour operators and business travel players, Pax Check mainly involves gradually adapting pre-departure information.
Before informing a customer that no printing is necessary, it's essential to verify that their airline actually accepts the device at the relevant airport. Instructions within the app or on the carrier's website should always be followed.
This caution avoids a common confusion between the announcement of a national system and its immediate availability to all companies.
Digital boarding passes will become widespread, but in stages
The established fact is therefore less spectacular than some announcements: Morocco has indeed launched Pax Check and begun the gradual generalization of the digital boarding pass, but this transition still depends on the technical and regulatory integration of each airline.
For both travelers and professionals, the best practice remains checking the carrier's conditions before departure. As more airlines join Pax Check, printing boarding passes should become less common at Moroccan airports.
