The trend is accelerating in French tourism. After focusing their efforts on transportation for a long time, several coach operators are now investing in distribution. The latest example is Voyages Guilloux. This family business, based in the Ardennes region, has opened three travel agencies in just a few months and created a dedicated structure to manage its tourism development.
At first glance, it might seem like a simple diversification. In reality, this strategy reflects a much deeper evolution in the sector. Tourist transport companies no longer simply want to transport travelers. They now seek to control customer relations, distribution, and the marketing of travel packages.
According to the trade press, Voyages Guilloux created a separate company in October 2025, encompassing its travel agency, group, and business travel activities. This decision reflects a trend observed among several market players in recent years.
Summary
Voyages Guilloux accelerates after several years of growth
The family business is not a newcomer to the tourism industry. For several years, it has already been selling group trips and organized stays.
But until recently, part of this activity went through intermediaries or partner tour operators.
The opening of agencies now allows Voyages Guilloux to regain control of its distribution and develop a direct relationship with travellers.
The company relies on three locations in its historical basin: Rethel, Witry-lès-Reims and Châlons-en-Champagne.
This proximity strategy is one of the pillars of the project. The branches have been established in easily accessible areas and have parking lots allowing customers to leave their vehicles before their departure.

Tourism activity has grown from 800,000 to 6 million euros
The development of distribution comes at a time of strong growth for the company.
According to statements from management relayed by the specialized press, tourism activity has increased from approximately 800,000 euros to nearly 6 million euros since 2021.
This progress is accompanied by an overall increase in the power of the family group.
Since 2020, the fleet has reportedly grown from six to eighteen coaches, while turnover has reportedly increased sixfold.
According to management, more than 12,000 passengers were transported in 2025.
Why coach operators invest in travel agencies
The case of Voyages Guilloux is not an isolated one.
For several years, several tourist transport companies have been developing or strengthening their presence in distribution.
This development addresses several objectives.
First, secure margins by reducing the use of intermediaries. Second, build customer loyalty by directly controlling the purchasing process. Finally, develop customized products with higher added value.
According to the specialized press, players such as Richou Voyages, Salaün, Fouché Travel, VIC Transport or Voyages Bentz have contributed to popularizing this hybrid model combining transport and distribution.
Adrien Guilloux also claims to have observed several of these companies before launching his own network.
A cautious but ambitious strategy
Unlike some national networks, Voyages Guilloux does not seek to rapidly expand its network of locations.
The stated objective is first to consolidate the three recently opened agencies before considering new developments.
The company is also focusing on tailor-made solutions, consulting and organized trips in order to differentiate itself in a competitive environment that has become more complex.
This cautious approach comes at a time when tourism professionals have to deal with geopolitical tensions, household budget trade-offs and sometimes more hesitant demand.
What the Voyages Guilloux case really reveals
The most interesting lesson goes far beyond the journey of a family business in the Ardennes.
According to the specialized press, the tourist transport sector is currently undergoing a silent transformation. The boundaries between carriers, producers, and distributors are becoming increasingly blurred.
Companies that control several links in the tourism chain often have a greater capacity to adapt to market changes.
Voyages Guilloux perfectly illustrates this logic. After strengthening its transport business following the health crisis, the company is now investing in distribution to continue its growth.
For tourism professionals, the message is clear: the battle is no longer fought solely on the product or transport. It is also fought on mastering customer relations and distribution.
