Hyatt partners with Headspace to improve traveler sleep

Date:

Hyatt is strengthening its positioning in the travel wellness sector. The hotel group has announced the launch of a new video series, Science Behind Sleep, developed in partnership with the wellness platform Headspace. The objective is clear: to help travelers sleep better before, during, and after their trips, using approaches validated by sleep science.

A partnership between the hotel industry and sleep science

Launched on November 14, 2024, by Hyatt Hotels Corporation , the Headspace's Science Behind Sleep series comprises five short episodes. Produced by World of Hyatt , it is available in nearly 400 Hyatt hotels worldwide, as well as on the Headspace app. According to the trade press, this initiative is part of the group's overall strategy to integrate well-being into the heart of the guest experience.

Hyatt reports that, according to an internal study, nearly three out of four travelers consider sleep quality a determining factor in their trip. To develop this content, the group relied on the expertise of Dora Kamau, a meditation instructor at Headspace, and Dr. Aric Prather, a clinical psychologist and sleep specialist.

Practical content designed for travelers

The series addresses several common travel challenges, such as jet lag, waking up during the night, and the difficulty of establishing a sleep routine away from home. The episodes offer simple advice focused on breathing techniques, mindfulness, exposure to natural light, and dietary habits.

Filmed at the Park Hyatt Aviara Resort in California, the series illustrates Hyatt's desire to go beyond the traditional framework of hotel comfort. As TJ Abrams, Hyatt's Vice President of Global Wellbeing, explains, sleep quality directly influences the overall travel experience, whether for business or pleasure.

A long-term wellness strategy

The partnership between Hyatt and Headspace didn't begin in 2024. Since 2019, Hyatt guests have had access to Headspace content dedicated to meditation, relaxation, and sounds that promote sleep. This new series marks an evolution, with more educational content based on scientific research.

Hyatt also specifies that access to Headspace is extended to certain employees and partner organizations committed to supporting communities, in line with the group's mission: “to care for people so they can be their best”.

A lever for differentiation and customer loyalty

With over 51 million members , the World of Hyatt program continues to enrich its value proposition by integrating mental health and wellness services. The Science Behind Sleep series , accessible directly from guest rooms or via the Hyatt app, thus becomes a loyalty tool aligned with current traveler expectations.

For Emma Nemtin, representative of Headspace, this collaboration makes the science of sleep more accessible and more concrete for travelers, by integrating it directly into their hotel experience.

Key takeaways

Hyatt and Headspace launch a video series dedicated to traveler sleep; five science-based episodes are available in nearly 400 Hyatt hotels and via the Headspace app; the initiative is part of a global wellness and loyalty strategy led by World of Hyatt.
