National Tree Day: What Royal Caribbean is really promising the first 1,000 families

Date:

To celebrate National Tree Day2026 , Royal Caribbean, The Wiggles, and Planet Ark are launching a campaign linking three family cruises to the planting of native Australian trees. The initiative is available to the first 1,000 families who book one of the themed departures scheduled between November 2026 and March 2027.

The initiative accompanies the arrival of the Tree of Wisdom character on board Wiggly Cruises offered during the southern summer of 2026-2027.

The Royal Caribbean Group Foundation announces a $20,000 contribution to fund tree planting in Queensland and New South Wales, through Planet Ark and its official restoration sites.

National Tree Day: what exactly the operation entails

Royal Caribbean announces that a tree will be planted for each of the first 1,000 families booking one of the three cruises concerned.

The initiative therefore does not include planting trees for all passengers this season, nor for all Royal Caribbean cruises offered in Australia. It is limited to the first family bookings registered on the three Wiggly departures identified by the company.

The press release does not specify the currency used for the $20,000 contribution. The amount is announced as part of an Australian campaign, but it is best not to convert it or present it as an amount in Australian dollars without further clarification from the organizer.

The text also does not detail the exact breakdown of funding between the purchase of seedlings, land preparation, planting and monitoring of trees.

A campaign linked to National Tree Day on July 26, 2026

National Tree Day 2026 is held on Sunday, July 26. Schools Tree Day is scheduled two days earlier, on Friday, July 24.

Created in 1996 by Planet Ark, National Tree Day is presented by the organization as the most important Australian community event dedicated to planting trees and maintaining natural spaces.

Planet Ark reports that 28 million trees have been planted since the event began, with the participation of five million volunteers representing approximately ten million hours dedicated to local operations.

The Royal Caribbean campaign thus comes during the year of the thirtieth anniversary of National Tree Day.

Three Royal Caribbean cruises are affected

The inaugural cruise will depart from Brisbane on November 30, 2026, aboard Quantum of the Seas. This four-night voyage includes a stopover in Airlie Beach. Tsehay Hawkins, Yellow Wiggle, and Tree of Wisdom are among the ships announced to be participating.

The second departure is scheduled for March 1, 2027 from Sydney. Anthem of the Seas will undertake a four-night cruise to Hobart, with Lucia Field, Blue Wiggle, and several Wiggly Friends.

The third cruise will depart Brisbane on March 19, 2027. Quantum of the Seas will offer a seven-night itinerary in the South Pacific. Caterina Mete, Red Wiggle, Evie Ferris, Yellow Wiggle, and Buddy are among the ships listed in the program published by Royal Caribbean.

According to the Australian trade press, these three cruises were already unveiled in early 2026 as part of the second season of the partnership between Royal Caribbean and The Wiggles. The announcement, linked to National Tree Day, therefore adds a tree-planting initiative to a commercial program already open for booking.

The Tree of Wisdom joins the onboard entertainment

The Tree of Wisdom is a dancing character from The Wiggles universe. Its presence is announced for the departure of Quantum of the Seas on November 30, 2026.

The three cruises must offer specific entertainment, including a departure party, a show, a Wiggly Disco Party, dance activities and character meet-and-greets.

Royal Caribbean specifies, however, that the content may vary from one departure to another. The advertised artists may also be replaced without prior notice.

The presence of a character or member of The Wiggles should therefore not be presented as an absolute contractual guarantee at the time of sale.

Not all Wiggles activities are included

Some of the themed entertainment is included in the cruise. Royal Caribbean specifically lists shows, certain dance activities, and the Wiggly Disco Party among the experiences offered to eligible passengers.

Other services may incur an additional charge. Breakfast with the characters, photo packages, merchandise, and Dorothy's cupcake decorating workshop are among the paid options.

The terms and conditions also state that the promotional code "WIGGLES" must be selected at the time of booking to access the relevant events. Availability remains limited and is controlled by the company.

A tree planting, but not carbon offsetting

The press release links booking cruises to planting native trees at Planet Ark restoration sites.

However, Royal Caribbean does not present this operation as a program to offset emissions produced by ships or passenger transport.

No volume of CO2 absorbed, no monitoring period and no calculations to compare the planted trees with the carbon footprint of the three trips are published.

The initiative should therefore be described for what it is: a financial contribution to local plantations, organized as part of National Tree Day and used to support the promotion of three family cruises.

What agencies need to check before communicating

For tourism professionals, the key takeaway is the limit of 1,000 families. The press release does not publicly specify how customers or agencies can determine if their booking still falls within this quota.

It does not provide further details on the rules applicable to reservations already registered before the announcement, cancellations, date changes, or files including multiple cabins.

Distributors must therefore verify the terms of the operation with Royal Caribbean before assuring a customer that a tree will indeed be associated with their booking.

It is also important to distinguish the National Tree Day campaign from the separate promotional fares offered on Wiggly Cruises. The commercial offers, onboard entertainment, and funding for tree planting are separate programs with their own terms and conditions.

A limited operation, but easily identifiable

The announced commitment remains quantitatively limited: 1,000 trees for the first 1,000 families and a total contribution of $20,000.

The campaign nevertheless benefits from a simple message, directly linked to the Tree of Wisdom and a national environmental event known to Australian families.

For Royal Caribbean, the operation allows them to relaunch their marketing efforts around the three Wiggly Cruises already scheduled. For Planet Ark, it provides additional funding for plantations in Queensland and New South Wales.

Article published on July 21, 2026, based on the Royal Caribbean press release, the official Wiggly Cruises program, and information published by Planet Ark. Artists, activities, availability, and booking conditions are subject to change prior to departure.
