Royal Air Maroc opens the Casablanca–Los Angeles route and strengthens its African hub

Date:

Royal Air Maroc inaugurated a new direct route between Casablanca and Los Angeles on June 7, 2026. Operated with a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner with three flights per week, this route marks a new stage in the Moroccan airline's international development.

According to the specialized press, this is the first non-stop connection directly linking Morocco to the west coast of the United States.

A new stage in the development of Royal Air Maroc

The opening of this service is part of the strategic plan signed between Royal Air Maroc and the Moroccan State in 2023. The stated objective is to strengthen the company's presence in major international markets while consolidating Casablanca's role as a connecting platform between Africa and North America.

With Los Angeles, Royal Air Maroc is expanding its North American network which already includes New York, Washington, Miami, Montreal and Toronto.

A diverse target clientele

Royal Air Maroc is targeting several market segments with this new route: business travelers, American tourists, the Moroccan and African diaspora living in North America, as well as travelers linked to major international events organized in the United States in the coming years.

The company cites the 2026 FIFA World Cup and the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics as factors likely to support demand.

Casablanca confirms its role as a continental hub

Beyond the single connection with California, this opening contributes to Royal Air Maroc's strategy of strengthening connections between Africa and major international markets.

The company is thus continuing to expand its long-haul network after the recent opening of new international destinations, notably to Beijing and São Paulo.

For tourism professionals, this new route illustrates the growing desire of African carriers to develop direct connections with the world's main source markets.
