Virgin Voyages is preparing a major debut for 2028. The Valiant Lady will be based in Amsterdam for a season in Scandinavia and the Baltic, with six cruises scheduled between July 9 and September 4. One of these will take the ship beyond the Arctic Circle to northern Norway.
The announcement, however, warrants some geographical clarification. Virgin Voyages advertises a voyage to approximately 71° North, but the Arctic Circle is located around 66°33′ North. The ship will therefore cross this boundary before continuing on to Tromsø and Honningsvåg, much further north.

Virgin Voyages opens a new season from Amsterdam
The 2028 program includes six voyages aboard Valiant Lady. Four cruises in Northern Europe will be framed by two 10-night repositioning crossings between Barcelona and Amsterdam.
According to the specialist press, this is Virgin Voyages' first full season dedicated to Scandinavia and the Baltic, and the company's first use of Amsterdam as its home port.
The season will begin on July 9, 2028 with a Barcelona-Amsterdam crossing. It will end on September 4 with the ship's return to Barcelona.
Virgin Voyages announces 15 first stops for its fleet during this program. Among them are Oslo, Copenhagen, Gdańsk via Gdynia, Stockholm, Aarhus, Molde, Nordfjordeid, Flåm, Tromsø, Honningsvåg, Trondheim, Åndalsnes, Olden and Cherbourg.
Four cruises in the heart of the Nordic season
The first Amsterdam-based cruise, Scandinavia & Stockholm Overnight, is scheduled from July 19 to 31, 2028. This 12-night voyage is to serve Oslo, Copenhagen, Gdynia for Gdańsk, Stockholm with one night in port, Warnemünde and Aarhus.
Valiant Lady will then embark from July 31 to August 7 on Norwegian Fjords, a seven-night cruise stopping in Molde, Nordfjordeid, Flåm and Bergen.
From August 7 to 14, Scandinavia & Hamburg will also offer seven-night packages departing from Amsterdam, including Oslo, Copenhagen, and Hamburg. Virgin Voyages is announcing late departures from Copenhagen and Hamburg.
The northernmost departure will follow immediately.
Virgin Voyages will reach the Arctic on August 14, 2028
Arctic Circle & Norwegian Fjords will depart Amsterdam on August 14, 2028 for an 11-night cruise. The itinerary includes Bergen, Tromsø, Honningsvåg, Trondheim, Åndalsnes and Olden.
The ship is scheduled to cross the Arctic Circle during this cruise. Virgin Voyages is planning an onboard ceremony and an event dedicated to the midnight sun.
The figure of 71° North used in the company's communications does not correspond to the latitude of the Arctic Circle. The National Snow and Ice Data Center places the Arctic Circle at approximately 66°33′ North. Honningsvåg, on the other hand, is located around 71° North and serves as the tourist gateway to the North Cape.
This distinction allows the product to be presented correctly: Virgin Voyages will not only cross the Arctic Circle, the Valiant Lady will continue several hundred kilometers further north.
This is not Virgin Voyages' first foray into Northern Europe
The 2028 season marks a first for Scandinavia and the Baltic as a dedicated program, but Virgin Voyages already sails in Northern Europe.
In August 2026, Valiant Lady, for example, is offering a 10-night cruise between Portsmouth and Reykjavik, with Amsterdam, Edinburgh, Invergordon, Akureyri and Ísafjörður among the stops.
The novelty of 2028 therefore lies mainly in the installation in Amsterdam, the scale of the Scandinavian programming, the first 15 stops announced and the journey beyond the Arctic Circle.
Bookings will open earlier for professionals
Public sales are scheduled to open on August 14, 2026. However, Sailing Club members will have early access from August 13.
Travel Market Report also indicates that First Mates, the name given by Virgin Voyages to its partner travel agents, will be able to access bookings from August 13.
This clarification is important for distributors: August 14th is therefore not the very first date of access to the product.
The Summer Season Pass will allow you to take four cruises in a row
Virgin Voyages also plans a Summer Season Pass covering the four consecutive northern European journeys on board Valiant Lady.
The company is announcing, among other things, a Central Sea Terrace cabin for two people, a $15 beverage credit per person per night, a Shore Thing excursion per trip up to $250 per person, an Arctic Circle-related excursion, enhanced Work From Sea Wi-Fi, laundry service, and access to the Thermal Suite for one day at sea on each trip.
Double occupancy will be mandatory and full payment will be required at the time of booking. The pass price will be announced on August 14, 2026.
These services and conditions are those announced by Virgin Voyages before sales opened. They must be checked at the time of booking.
An Arctic season always reserved for adults
Virgin Voyages' age policy remains unchanged with this new schedule. The company confirms that its cruises are still only accessible to passengers aged 18 and over.
For tourism professionals, the key facts are therefore precise: six voyages, a new homeport in Amsterdam, 15 first stops for the fleet, four combinable northern European cruises and an 11-night departure taking Valiant Lady beyond the Arctic Circle on August 14, 2028.
Updated August 6, 2026: Pricing for the new cruises and the Summer Season Pass has not yet been fully released. Early access is scheduled for August 13, 2026, for select customer and partner categories, prior to the public opening on August 14.
