Orient Express Sailing Yachts is making a strong statement at Cannes 2026 and is already redefining ultra-luxury tourism

Date:

Orient Express Sailing Yachts' arrival at Cannes 2026 is no coincidence. Behind the announcement of its official partnership with the Cannes Film Festival lies an extremely ambitious strategic operation spearheaded by Accor. The objective is clear: to establish Orient Express as a global benchmark for ultra-luxury experiential travel.

From May 12 to 23, 2026, the Orient Express Corinthian will be anchored in the Bay of Cannes for the 79th edition of the Film Festival. A highly symbolic presence for the commercial launch of the yacht's first season.

According to the specialized press, this operation marks a new stage in the transformation of Orient Express into a true premium ecosystem combining hotels, railways and now ultra-high-end yachting.

Orient Express Sailing Yachts is banking on the Cannes 2026 effect

The choice of the Cannes Film Festival is not insignificant. The event remains one of the most powerful media showcases in the world for the luxury, entertainment and international lifestyle sectors.

With its 220-meter, three-masted yacht, Orient Express seeks both to make a lasting impression and to establish its new positioning in the world of experiential travel.

In my opinion, this presence at Cannes 2026 goes far beyond a simple PR exercise. Accor is seeking to create a genuine object of desire around Orient Express Sailing Yachts even before its commercial operations have fully begun.

A yacht designed as a technological and lifestyle showcase

The Orient Express Corinthian was developed in partnership with Chantiers de l'Atlantique. The ship notably incorporates SolidSail technology, a sail propulsion system capable of enabling up to 100% sailing under sail in certain favorable conditions.

The project also reflects a desire to enhance the overall experience, where design plays a central role. The interiors were designed by architect Maxime d'Angeac, artistic director of the Orient Express.

Two units are currently planned in the Orient Express Sailing Yachts program: the Corinthian expected in 2026 and the Orient Express Olympian announced for 2027.

Accor is accelerating its ultra-luxury experiential business

With Orient Express Sailing Yachts, Accor is continuing its existing strategy of developing a global brand universe. After historic trains and upscale hotel projects, the group is now investing in the luxury yachting sector.

This approach reflects a broader trend observed in the tourism industry: major brands are increasingly seeking to offer complete and consistent experiences around a single lifestyle universe.

For premium tourism professionals, this development also confirms the rise of experiential travel in the very high end, where storytelling, exclusivity and immersion become major commercial levers.

A project that goes beyond simple maritime transport

Orient Express no longer simply sells transportation or accommodation. The brand is now building a comprehensive image around ultra-premium travel.

The partnership with Cannes 2026 makes it possible to associate this vision with one of the most iconic events in the world in terms of prestige and international visibility.

According to the specialized press, this strategy is also part of the strengthened partnership between Accor and LVMH around the development of Orient Express.
