Galdeo: the AI that promises to revolutionize travel agencies

Date:

At IFTM Top Resa 2025, the La Rochelle-based startup Galdeo caused a sensation. Its promise? To allow travel agencies to create tailor-made trips in just a few clicks, thanks to artificial intelligence. For tourism professionals, this might be the digital boost they've been waiting for, but is all that glitters AI? Let me dig deeper.

The Galdeo concept: when AI rhymes with efficiency

Galdeo was founded in La Rochelle by Alice Pasquier and Gabriel Groizeleau. The idea: to automate the most time-consuming steps in planning a trip. The agent enters the client's wishes (destinations, activities, constraints), and the platform generates a complete itinerary in seconds: transportation, accommodations, activities, customizable to their liking. An illustrated travel guide is then created and given to the client. The entire process is designed so that the agency retains editorial control.

The solution targets travel agencies, travel planners, and DMCs looking to increase agility while enhancing the personalization of their offers. Features include: integration of partner catalogs, immersive quotes, an AI chatbot to qualify requests upstream, and centralized project management.

What this changes (and the challenges ahead)

If Galdeo keeps its promises, it could transform the agency business:

  • Ultra-fast creation of personalized routes, which reduces response time and increases business responsiveness.
  • Fewer errors or omissions in the planning, AI links the travel components (transport, accommodation, activities).
  • Possibility of handling more "tailor-made" requests without skyrocketing internal costs.
  • But the challenge will be to keep a human touch: AI can suggest, but the agent must remain the guarantor of consistency, quality, and local choices.
  • The issue of data, the reliability of algorithms, and technological maintenance will be central to ensuring the robustness of the service.

How Galdeo plans to develop

The startup, supported by the La Rochelle Technopole, Bpifrance, and the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region, has already convinced around ten agencies during its pilot phase. Its objective: to reach 180 clients by the end of 2026.

Galdeo's ambitions don't stop at France: the tool could be offered internationally, in markets where the demand for digital personalization is high. If it succeeds in expanding internationally, its growth could be rapid.

What should agencies do now?

Here's what I recommend if you want to take advantage of Galdeo:

  • Integrate it gradually, on a “tailor-made” segment, alongside your classic offerings.
  • Train your teams to think “AI + human”: know how to correct, modify, enrich what the tool generates.
  • Be vigilant regarding technology partnerships and the conditions of access to internal/agency data.
  • Prepare your communication: announcing that you are working with powerful AI can be a differentiating factor, but transparency will be key to avoiding the “black box” effect.

What I see for the future of Galdeo

Galdeo has the opportunity to become a leading SaaS provider for travel agencies. If the tool is reliable, fast, flexible, and integrates well with the ecosystem of local players and suppliers, it could revolutionize the way we work. For agencies already organized around rigid processes, it's a challenge; for the more agile ones, it's a chance to stand out in the post-digital age.
