easyJet takes things to the next level with Airbus: CO₂, delays, smoother flights… a real technological breakthrough

Date:

Reduced CO₂ emissions, more efficient flights, optimized coordination… easyJet has just announced that all of its Airbus A320neo and A321neo aircraft will be equipped with the FANS-C system, a navigation technology developed in partnership with Airbus. This technological step marks an operational turning point on its short- and medium-haul European network.

A next-generation navigation system

The Future Air Navigation System-C (FANS-C) enables real-time sharing of flight path data between aircraft and air traffic control. Each flight transmits its trajectory in four dimensions (latitude, longitude, altitude, time), facilitating more precise tracking and better traffic anticipation. Less waiting, fewer detours, greater efficiency.

Results that are already measurable

According to easyJet, the system has so far avoided approximately 1,052 tonnes of CO₂e and saved 334 tonnes of fuel, primarily in airspace controlled by Eurocontrol Maastricht. These are real gains, achieved in densely populated areas, thanks to improved coordination and optimized flight paths.

A fleet already largely equipped

easyJet now has 54 A320neo and A321neo aircraft equipped with the FANS-C system. The new aircraft will be delivered with this technology integrated from the factory. This standard allows pilots to communicate with air traffic controllers via electronic messages, reducing errors related to radio communications and enabling more precise anticipation of course changes.

My point of view

We often talk about greener aviation when we think of fuels or hybrid aircraft. But modernizing navigation tools is just as strategic. For tourism professionals, it's a subtle but impactful change: greater punctuality, increased reliability, and a strengthened image for a company often perceived as low-cost but which is demonstrating a genuine technological vision.

What this changes for your customers

More efficient and predictable flights, especially on the most congested routes.

Tip: Highlight these concrete arguments in your easyJet sales. It's measured, visible, and sets you apart from other airlines.
